Our traditional Market Basket is hand woven by artisans in Bangladesh. This can be used as a shopping basket, picnic basket, beach bag, traveling tote or decorative storage in the home or office. Not only do these baskets help fund community development in areas like Bangladesh, but 10% of each sale is donated to Pets in Need. A local animal shelter here in Northern California working to advance the no-kill movement + provide homeless pets with a chance at a forever home.
Hogla leaves and Jute plants are some of the most sustainable materials found in nature. These plants are harvested and dried to convert into strips or fibers. They are then hand braided and woven into beautiful functional baskets by master artisans in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh has suffered genocide, floods, cyclones and tornados, and the dense population is extremely impoverished. As a response to these events, a non-profit was formed to provide art training, health camps, social and economic development to empower artisans. We are proud to provide help to these artisans through the sales of our baskets! Learn more about our Indian artisans here.
